Primary 2′s current topic is China. Both classes have been working really hard to find out lots of facts about China and so we decided to have a ‘Topic Treasure hunt’.

Mrs Elder and Gregor hid some large fact cards in the infant playground. The children were then paired up and given a fact sheet with some information missing. Each pair had to find the hidden facts and fill in the blanks. The children really enjoyed the outdoor learning activity and were enthusiastic to share their knowledge. This activity has really helped the children to read and remember lots of interesting facts about China.

We hope you enjoy looking at our photographs. Please feel free to leave us a comment.

Serial Numberline Switcher 3

There have been some funny goings on in P3M! We have been learning our 5x table with the aid of our number line. However, every morning we come in, some of the numbers have been tampered with. P3 have been spotting the mistakes in the number line, but have also been trying to get to the bottom of who is responsible. We made tally charts and bar charts in Maths, to see who is the prime suspect. Then finally Mrs Henderson hid a secret camera over night to try and catch the serial numberline switcher in action. Mrs Wells played the footage at assembly…and lets just say, he was caught RED HANDED! Click on the link above, to view the video evidence!

Both Primary 2 classes had a wonderful time on Tuesday 21st December at their Christmas Party.  They played games, danced and had a super party tea.  The party was rounded off by a visit from Santa Claus.  Here are some of the photographs.

christmas party 2010 116Pupils in P2 MD received some very interesting letters from the North Pole on Tuesday Morning!

As part of a previous writing lesson they children had written to Santa Claus telling him how well behaved they had been and asking Santa for some things for Christmas.

They were astonished when Mr MacDonald arrived at the class with a huge pile of letters – one for everyone in the class.  Santa had replied to every child in P2MD.  He said he was going to do his best to get what the children had asked for and reminded all the children of the “drill” for Christmas Eve.

Here are some pictures of us receiving and reading our letters.

The primary 3′s have been working very hard to write their own snowman stories. Last Thursday both classes watched ‘The snowman’ by Raymond Briggs to help set the scene. The children really enjoyed watching this DVD and were keen to start writing their own stories.

In our own classes we discussed the beginning, middle and ending to ‘The Snowman’ story and talked about how we could rewrite the story from the little boys point of view.  As we wrote down our ideas we listened to the ‘Flying in the air’ song. The primary 3′s produced some of their best work yet. Come and take a look at our stories, we are very proud of them.

The Snowman

One morning I woke up so excited. I ran to my window to see lot’s of snow. I burst down stairs to get dressed and I built a snowman. I put some clothes on the snowman. Then mum wanted me to come in for tea and then I went to bed.

Suddenly there was a bright flash of light and the snowman came to life. I was shocked so I introduced myself and so did the snowman. We went inside and I dressed him in funny clothes. Dad woke up and I was scared so after that the snowman rode a bike.

I held the snowman’s hand. Suddenly the snowman started to fly. I was petrified. I even saw a whale and when we landed I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was a snowman party. I was amazed and I saw Santa and I was happy he gave me a present. Then the snowman took me back to bed.

In the morning I burst down stairs to look out the window. I was shocked I went into the garden it was literally dead. I felt cold and miserable and I was so very, very sad.

The Snowman

One morning I woke up so excited and I ran to my window to see lots of snow. I got dressed and ran downstairs. I put my socks and boots on and ran outside I swung on a tree branch. Next I made a snowball then I threw it at the window. Then my mum shouted ant me. Next I made a snowman and my mum called me to come in for bed.

Then the snowman came to life I went “ no no” it can’t be true. At night I got up and came out and took my snowman and we went in my house.

In the living room he went to near the fire and nearly melted in it. We got out the living room and I showed him upstairs in my mum and dads bedroom. Then my mum and dad woke up and we ran to my room. Then we went outside and he held my hand.

The Snowman

One morning I woke up so excited. I ran to my window to see lots of snow falling. I got dressed I ran downstairs and went outside. I built a snowman. I put a hat and scarf on my snowman.

At night I couldn’t sleep I ran downstairs. I got my jacket on and ran outside and suddenly my snowman came alive.

I took my snowman inside I was very nervous because it was the middle of the night. I took my snowman around my house and then he went in the freezer. We went outside and suddenly we flew up into the sky. Then after a wee while we were at a snowman party. Then I went to Father Christmas he gave me a present it was a scarf with snowmen on it.

I flew home brushed my teeth and went to bed.

In the morning I rushed downstairs and looked out of the window. Then I saw my melted snowman. I thought Oh no!

He melted I was so disappointed I cried a lot.

The  Snowman

I was asleep. Then I woke up and I put my clothes on. Then I had breakfast and then I put my boots on.  After I went outside and I built a snowman then I went to my bed.

At 12 o’clock I woke up and I looked out the window. Suddenly the snowman was real. I went outside and I let the snowman go into my house. I showed him the kitchen, bedroom and the living room. The snowman sat on a chair then the snowman started to get hot. I took the snowman outside and I went to bed.

When I woke up the snowman took to me to a party. We were flying and we danced there were lots of snowmen then the snowman took me home. I gave the snowman a big hug and then I went to my bedroom.

The next day I went to see the snowman but the snowman was gone. I was very, very sad and I felt lonely.

 The Snowman

I woke up in the morning and built a snowman and I put a hat and a scarf on it.

At 12 o’clock I got a big fright it had come alive! I went outside and shook it’s hand. I took him inside and he sat down on the chair in the sitting room and I put on the TV.

I didn’t know the fire was on and he got too hot. We went in the kitchen and he took his nose off. He put a banana and a cherry on as his nose. We went outside again and he took my hand and we flew.

When we   landed and we saw Santa,  he gave me a present and I opened it. It was a scarf with a picture of a snowman on it. We flew home and I went to bed.

I woke up the next morning and looked outside my window and he had melted. I felt sad and lonely. I cried. I sat on the chair that he sat on.  I was crying holding the scarf it had snow all over it. I went back to bed again still crying but I fell asleep and dreamed about him.

I dream about him every night and about us flying!

The Snowman

I made a very nice snowman. I put some clothes on it and I went to bed.

I got up at 12 o’clock and got dressed. I went straight outside and saw the snowman come to life.

We looked in the kitchen, he got lots of different noses. Then we went to the bathroom and the living room where he watched TV. He nearly melted because of the fire.

We went on the motorbike. It was fun!

Afterwards we went to mums room where we put girly things on him. He then said goodbye. I was very sad. I cuddled him and suddenly he took my hand and he jumped up in the sky and we were flying! We flew around lots and lots of houses and down below the sky. I was amazed how high I was with the flying snowman but it was the best thing in my life. Down below I saw a boat in the sea, snowy fields.

When we landed there were lots of other snowmen we had a party I was amazed to see Santa he gave me a present It was a snowman scarf.

I had to go so I gave the snowman a cuddle and said goodbye to him. I went back to bed.

In the morning he had melted and I was very very sad.

The Snowman

I woke up that morning and built a snowman. Mum and dad and me had breakfast then I gave him a scarf.

I couldn’t sleep that night so I sneaked out of bed and peeked out of my window. My snowman came to life I was amazed about it.

I introduced him to my house then I went in the sky. I was a little bit scared but I made it.

I didn’t realise that I was at Santa’s party. I had lots of fun then Santa gave me a scarf. I was really pleased.  I said thank you to Santa then I went home
